Innovation is one of Teknolur’s main missions
Research is the fundamental basis of the entire innovation process. It is for this reason that Teknolur has signed a collaboration agreement with the Tknika Centre and the company Breen, by means of which it will research the possibilities of implementing aquaculture and vegetable crop systems simultaneously.
The company’s research objectives include:
-Sustainable water management
-Food sustainability 100% vegetable-based food for fish.
-Food safety for aquaculture products:
-NO heavy metals
Aquaponics is a sustainable food production system that combines traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as fish, river crabs or shrimp) with hydroponics (growing plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In aquaculture, the wastes accumulated in the water increase toxicity for the fish. This water is directed to the hydroponics system where it is filtered by the plants that use these nutrients, thus leaving the water purified and ready to be re-circulated to the aquatic tanks. The term ‘aquaponic’ is a contraction of the words ‘hydroponic’ and ‘aquaculture’.
